A former investment banker, Rishi Sunak is the son of Indian immigrants. He was born in 1979 and grew up in England.
He attended Oxford University and studied politics, philosophy and economics. After graduating from Oxford, he joined the London-based asset management firm Terra Firma Capital Partners.
He left the firm after 10 years to pursue a career in British politics.

Born on 29th December 1982, he was educated at Winchester College before studying Arabic and History of the Middle East as an undergraduate at Oxford University. He was elected to represent the Thirsk and Malton seat in Parliament for the Conservatives in June 2017 following the retirement of Sir Alan Duncan.
His early political career began when he became a member of David Cameron's policy unit from 2013-2015, before becoming a parliamentary private secretary to Justine Greening from 2015-2017.
In 2016, he became an international advisor to George Osborne, who had been made editor of London's Evening Standard newspaper after stepping down as Chancellor of the Exchequer.
